TASTING NOTES:
Our Roučí white is a Chardonnay 2023 that shows a character reminiscent of top Burgundian wines. This is thanks to both the compositions of the soil and the precision of the winemaker's craft. The goal is to create a long-lived wine meant to be enjoyed slowly, sip by sip, revealing its full depth of flavor.
We achieve complexity and richness through meticulous vineyard work focused on exceptional vine health and intentionally low yields. The color of this Chardonnay is golden, gradually deepening into amber-gold as it ages. On the palate, you 'll find notes of peach, tropical fruit, followed by honey, minerality, and a touch of salinity. The taste is full, layered and long-lasting. For those who give the wine time, it will reward them with an outstanding sensory experience once it reaches full bottle maturity.
A similar Chardonnay was created in 2002, and, after 22 years of aging, reached its peak in 2024. Anyone who shared the last remaining bottle with us can attest to how remarkable it was. Cheers...
ABOUT CHARDONNAY
Chardonnay is one of the three finest white wine varieties in the world. It originated from the natural crossing of Pinot Blanc and Gouais Blanc. Its flavor profile varies depending on soil type. In Bořetice, Chardonnay is described by our colleagues from France as an "autumne wine" - showing tropical fruit, butter, nuts, minerality, and elegant acidity.
It is typically a full-bodied wine, depending on the ripeness of the grapes, with spicy notes and a long finish. Chardonnay is well suited for aging and rewards slow savoring, inviting youu to discover subtle nuances with every sip.
